      Sunday Morning Road Rides:
      We will be starting our Sunday morning rides this season from the Quest Fitness Center in Kennebunk. We will be putting together ride descriptions later as we develop them. Group speeds will be similiar to what is described below.

      Advanced Beginner ride on hold) The Advanced Beginner ride is intended for people new to group rides. Riders will be learn skills that will allow them to ride safely with other cyclists. Average speed will be 12-14mph for 15 miles. Excellent training for those new group riding and spinners wanting to ride outside.
       
      B) The "B" ride will be between 25 to 30 miles at an average speed of about 14 to 15 MPH. We will make 3 stops along the way to regroup. No one will get left behind. We will follow the same route each week. Ride leader: Ray Hajny.
       
      B+) The "B+" Ride will be travelling about 32 miles at an average speed of 16 to 17mph. After travelling through the development opposite Shoppers Village the ride will be heading back to town on Fletcher Street. We will take a right onto Route One, then a quck left onto Brown Street. At the end of Brown Street the ride will take a left onto Route 9, looping around Kennebunk Beach, then back on Route 9 to Cape Porpoise. The ride will head to the Cape Porpoise pier, which is the first rest stop. We will continue east on Route 9, then loop around Goose Rocks Beach. Heading west on Route 9, the ride takes a right onto Goose Rocks Road, then a left onto Stone Road. At Old Cape Road the ride takes a right to go across North Street to River Road, stopping at Wink's Variety store. Continuing up River Road, the ride takes a left on Durrell's Bridge Road. We take a left onto Summer Street, then a right onto Heath Road. At the end of Heath Road there is a right onto Sea Road, then a left back onto Summer Street. The ride goes past the Kennebunk police station and town hall with a right onto Route One North. A short distance onto Route One leads back to Shoppers Village and Quest Fitness.       The A- ride will be using 2 different routes. The rides will run between 32 and 35 miles in length. The average speed will run between 18 and 19 mph, depending on conditions. We will work to keep riders together by keeping pulls short, rotating to the back, keeping an eye out for riders off the back, and having stops for regrouping.
       
      Ride Leader: Phil Havey (967-0014)
      A) The A ride will be using 4 different routes, including 2 new ones introduced last year. The rides will run between 30 and 40 miles in length. The average speed will run between 18 and 20 mph,depending on conditions. We will work to keep riders together by keeping pulls short, rotating to the back,keeping an eye for riders off the bike, and having stops for regrouping.
      1. The Coastal Route will start by riding through the development opposite Shoppers Village. Taking a left onto Fletcher Street, we then take a right onto Route One, then a quick left onto Brown Street. At the end of Brown Street we follow Route 9 until we loop around Kennebunk Beach. Rejoining Route 9, we cross into Dock Square and turn right onto Ocean Avenue. The ride passes Walker's Point, then heads to Cape Porpoise via Wildes District Road. Back on Route 9, we loop around Goose Rocks Beach. Turning right onto Route 9, we then take Old Pool Road to UNE. Afte a stop at UNE, the ride turns briefly onto Route 9 before using Sokokis Lane to ride across Route 9 briefly onto Meetinghouse Road, then turning left onto Guinea Road. We follow Guinea Road back, then take a left onto Goose Rocks Road, then right onto Arundel Road. The ride crosses Log Cabin Road, then turns right onto River Road. A left on Durrell's bridge road and a right onto Summer Street will take us back to Route One. A short distance on Route One will take us back to Quest Fitness.

      3. The Estes Lake/Pig Farm loop.

      4. The Saco River ride.

      A+) The "A" ride will be an open ride where the route, distance and speed will decided by the riders before the ride. The ride will generally be around 40 miles at 20 + MPH.

      Starting April 8th at 5:30PM
      5:30 PM Road Ride from Quest Fitness
      We are planning two groups, one faster and one at a more moderate pace. The riders in each group dictate the distance and intensity. The distance will be longer or shorter each week in direct proportion to the amount of daylight we have!

      Wednesday Night:
      Starting March 17th 2010
      5:30 PM from Sanford Airport Ride
       
       
      Join Big Mike, Dave L and friends for Wednesday nights out of the Sanford Airport. We usually ride about 30 miles at about 18-19 mph.The average speed will drop after dark. We have 2 rides, one loop heads to North Berwick and back through Wells. The other loop goes around Estes Lake and through West Kennebunk. Park in the parking lot for the Cockpit Cafe at the airport, towards the back of the lot.
      This ride starts in the spring with lights for the first few weeks, then goes back to using lights in the fall and will ride until the snow flies.
